Challenge
Prioritizing Safety in Digital Communication
SafeComm aimed to address a critical concern: creating a communication platform that integrates security for minors, legal guardians, and coaches while maintaining accessibility and user-friendliness.
Unmonitored Interactions:
Existing platforms lacked safeguards, increasing risk for minors.
Limited Guardian Involvement:
Communication often excluded legal guardians, causing mistrust.
Non-Intuitive Design:
Confusing user flows led to miscommunication and errors.
Lack of Security Features:
No automatic mechanisms to filter hate speech or unsafe interactions.
Fragmented Tools:
Users required multiple apps to manage various communication needs.
Exclusion of Key Stakeholders:
Coaches and guardians struggled with poor accessibility features.
Research and Discovery
Understanding Users to Build Trust
Our research process included interviews, surveys, and usability testing to gain insights into user needs and ensure SafeComm met its objectives.
How Personas Guided Decisions
The SafeComm app addresses the unique needs of two key personas: Sarah Thompson, a parent seeking a stress-free and transparent platform to monitor her child's interactions, and James Carter, a coach requiring efficient tools to facilitate safe communication with parents and students. These personas reflect the app’s focus on creating a secure, user-friendly experience tailored to both parental oversight and streamlined management for educators.
